Sent three football cards and two index cards to Brian Talbot on 12/10 received today. He very kindly signed all the items and added a nice note to the bottom of my letter.
Brian Talbot was a midfield player who played professional football for 20 yrs mainly in the top flight. Being an Ipswich lad he started his career at his home town club and played there from 1972-79, making 227 appearances and scoring 25 gls. In 1978 he was part of the Ipswich Town side that beat Arsenal 1-0 in the FA Cup final.
In Jan 1979 he was transfered to Arsenal for a fee of £450,000. He played in the 1979 FA Cup final when Arsenal beat Man Utd 3-2, thus having the unique distinction of winning the FA cup with two different clubs in consecutive seasons. He played 254 times for Arsenal, scoring 40 gls before leaving them in 1985 for Watford. He had other spells at Stoke City 1986-88, WBA 1988-90, Fulham 1990-91, Aldershot 1991-92.
