I was just curious into what a bookplate is? I've only just started collection autographs so I have no clue what a bookplate is. Anyone help?

A book plate is a small card that has been signed by the author of a book and added as an insert rather than the author signing a page in the book, I have examples of Sean Connery, Christopher lee and Sir John Major doing this.
