Picked up a 5x7 photo signed by Jan Graveson (Disa) and June Brown (Dot) for 99p from Jan on eBay. I do not normally pick up much that is not an official card, but I liked this pic from a favourite era of the show, and June will always be an all time favourite of mine.

I also bought a small bundle of four signed pics for £3.99. I was only after the signed Laurie Brett EE card (#467), but did not have the Carol Smilie signed pic, and the Leila Birch is a different signed pic to one I have but in the same style. The fourth pic was a Liz Tarbuck which I already have.

The Laurie Brett card is the original Jane Collins second card. Her third card had the same pic but was a Jane Beale name variant.

Some nice bargains there, Nigel. I like Dot but I don't watch EE anymore, not since the days of Den and Angie.

Great purchases Nigel, still watch EE,but it's not the same nowadays.

I never tried collecting the EE cards,(my football collections enough) but have been lucky enough to meet Steve McFadden (in the early days when he signed) Tom Watt,Nick Berry and Ross Kemp and get them IP.I also bumped into Adam Woodyatt in Florida about 16 years ago and had my photo taken with him, but I didn't have an autograph book with me at the time.

#7 Rob - I would hope it was not the same after 27 years! 🙂 Times change, and the show reflects changes in society and life. Not always realistic, but more so than many shows like it.

One reason I collect the signed cards is to celebrate the amazing cast members. Some characters might be loathsome or irritating to watch, but the cast members in the roles always give good performances.EE has a rich history of great acting talent. A great example is Gill Wright playing Jean Slater. The character Jean can annoy some people, but Gill the actress is giving remarkable and realistic performances week in week out.

I watch my wife's USA soap General Hospital with her, and although it is a lot of fun (emphasis on fun as the plots do not reflect reality), some of the acting is cringe worthy as they go for looks versus acting ability with the 16-25 group. Having said that, it is a good training ground for people breaking into acting and I have seen people who are awful when they started become very good over two to three years.

I envy you meeting some of the cast members. Hopefully I will one day. Until then writing to them is the closest I will get.
