Whilst trawling Ebay a week or so ago I came across these 2 little gems which I bid on and won.The Motherewrell sheet is from season 1938/39 and the last name at the bottom is David Mathie who played for Motherewell,Clyde,Partick Thistle,Kilmarnock.Llanelli and Workington but also guested for Chelsea during WWII.He sadly died at the age of 34 in 1954 and his funeral was attended by representatives from all the clubs he played at !
The card is signed by Reuben 'Charlie' Purviss who had trialled at Newcastle with no luck and was actually playing for North Shields when he guested for Chelsea during WWII.He later went on to play fror Charlton and Southampton.
