Dear eBay seller,

We’d like to inform all business sellers about a legal change in the energy consumption labelling of light sources. This will become effective on 1 September 2021 and you can read about it here.

The new regulation defines new legal requirements for the labelling of light sources and it will change previous regulations and obligations. The labelling obligations continue to include, among other things, the indication of the energy efficiency class and the associated "EC Range".

Once you’ve added the item specifics Energy Efficiency Class and EC Range to your listings, an arrow with the range of energy efficiency classes can be displayed on the search results page - as seen below.

You’ll also need to add correct values for the item specifics Brand, Manufacturer number and EAN. If you provide this information and our external service provider has the data available, the electronic energy label and product data sheet can be displayed by the system on the item page on eBay - as shown below. If the information is available for older products, it will also be displayed if possible.

The display of energy labels for eBay listings with variants is excluded.

You can find out more about your obligations to inform buyers when selling electronic and electric devices here.

As always, thanks for selling with us,

The eBay Team
