This is not a *slimming club* really.

I think it would be nice to have a place to come & chat about weight loss ideas (safe sensible ones only please!),
to share personal experiences and achievements, and also to ask for help.

Lindi is our resident expert, and has kindly offered her help.
Just introduce yourself and come on in, you are most welcome!

Thanks Lindi

First proper day of doing the Special K diet..not been too bad so far. And I haven't eaten one bit of choccy, even when I was peckish I reached for some fruit instead.

Hope it lasts, cause Im a choccyholic..last choccy bar I had was on Monday and Im already craving the stuff.;\

Hi everyone

I posted on here last week. I have been going to weight watchers for nine weeks and have lost 11lbs, seem to be stuck on losing only ½lb for last couple of weeks, but have a sprained ankle and can't do much exercise. A question for lindiloo if you have a minute; how much water should I be taking daily and can I drink flavoured water as a supplement as the water is getting really boring.

Well done to Kitty for reaching her goal weight, my friend who goes to classes with me is over 13st and has lost 9lbs so far, after telling her your weight loss she seems more confident that she can do it as she was getting despondent on only losing ½1b for last three weeks. "Any advice appreciated".

Hi Redmary - the first few weeks at ww are the ones where you lose the greatest amount of weight per week. However after that as your body becomes used to receiving less food the weight loss slows. Average per week should be 1/2 - 1 lb. The weight is not supposed to drop off quickly as it will go back on just as quickly. Your leader will have told you that this is not a quick fix - it isn't a diet, it's a change of lifestyle.

Flavoured waters are fine as part of your daily allowance - you can even have sugar free squash. I just drink plain spring water with a slice of lemon in it and have some carbonated water just for a change!

Don't be disappointed with 1/2 lb per week. 1/2 off is better than 1/2 on after all! 🙂

Good luck and keep at it (I have 6 lbs to get to goal and when I reach it will have lost 52 lbs in total!)

Hi Ivvie,
I always thought it was normal to lose 1+1/2 - 2 lbs per week. Is it different at WW?

Just asking 🙂

Clare it is "normal" to lose weight at a faster rate when dieting because you cut out a lot of the things you would normally eat. On a diet you don't eat chocolate or biscuits or crisps. Weight Watchers don't say that you are on a diet because they allow you to eat whatever you want as long as you stick to your points. It is a healthy eating programme which retrains you to eat in moderation and is something you can stick to for the rest of your life! So at weight watchers we are told that 1/2 - 1 lb is a good weight loss and anything more is a bonus. (Most people lose 3+ lbs during the first week as that week feels like a diet to your body.)

I have lost a great deal of weight over the past year. During that time I have still had chips, pizza, take aways, biscuits and I have chocolate on a daily basis! It took me 10 years to get to my obese state so to expect it to vanish quickly is unrealistic! For me the ww plan has worked a treat.

(Don't be discouraged by your half pounds please.)

Hi,

After reading this thread last night I took the plunge and joined WW online as I thought it was about time I did something about my weight.

I am 12.5 stone and 5ft 8 so about 2 stone over at least. I would love to get back into a size 14 comfortably again (size 16 at mo) even a 12 someday but that seems a long way to go at the moment.

I shall pop in here often if thats ok as I think I will need all the motivating that is going.

I am one of the unusual ones here I think in that I do not eat chocolate much maybe once a month or so. My problem is portion size, ie I heap piles of food on my plate and then feel I need to clear the lot.

So portion control is my way forward I think, I also don't drink alcohol anymore (hangovers kill me!) and I do not exercise any where enough so that will have to change.

Thanks for being here and here's to a new me.

Census Seeker - good for you and I'm glad I could help! (I'm hoping to become a ww leader - my interview should be next Thursday but it's been moved to Friday.)

I first thought it was really naff to get these silver sevens - until I got one! Now that I have 6 (and am on the way to my 7th) I'm really proud of them. They each represent a huge amount of fat and also the determination to be rid of it!

I am a backwards looking weight loser. Until I was 10 lbs away from goal I never thought I would get to goal and didn't even think about how much weight I still had to lose - it would have been too depressing. I look at what I've lost and praise myself! It is very useful when you are "stuck" to be able to say "get a grip gal - you have lost 44 lbs already you only have to shift 6 more - how hard can that be after the other 44?" It keeps me focused!

So stick at it. Enjoy eating "real" food and you'll have that silver seven when you want it! 🙂
