ARE MENTORS PAID BY EBAY FOR BACKING THEM UP ?

Yet again I am reading replies from Ebay Mentors which in my experience are simply not true.
I am starting to wonder if these mentors are being paid by Ebay to support them no matter what. Like the way some people are paid and receive free goods to give positive reviews.

One of the many posts about sellers not being paid raises the question of feedback - surely if a buyer leaves positive feedback that is an admission that they have received the item especially if they go into some detail mentioning the item and saying things like fits perfectly or works exactly as it should. How could someone leave a hundred word positive feedback by mistake ?.

Also as I reported on here one Seller was told by Ebay that if tracking does not shows as delivered and  if the buyer does not click on the received icon then the buyer will automatically be refunded without question this getting to keep the item and get a refund.

As I have read from other Ebay Mentors this one says :

Experienced Mentor

"Feedback is entirely voluntary, can be left in error, and is not evidence that an item has arrived,

As explained succinctly in the email, if tracking shows delivery, your payment will be available to withdraw 48 hours later.

No tracking (or, no updated tracking proving delivery), your payment will be available to wirhdraw after 14 days."

That statement is not true,or at least in my case it is not true. The 5 items I sold after 4th February were all sent by a tracked mail service, were all marked as delivered on tracking, were all marked as delivered on the orders page but I HAVE RECEIVED  £ ZERO. I am now having to cancel orders as I cannot keep sending stuff out at my expense and get no payment.

10 days on from this no payout for any of them. When I go into my account it shows " Total funds" and an amount = what I should have received for sales but then above that it shows "ebay balance" £0.00. During my frequent contact with Customer Services they just say that I have been paid and that is the end of the conversation. My bank account statements show that no money has been paid to me from Ebay.

Why do Ebay Customer Services no have access to the payout records of buyers ?. As I get the impressions they can only see what I can see.

If I filer the results of my sales to "pending" it shows there are no orders pending - SO WHERE IS MY MONEY ? WHERE IS OUR MONEY ?.

I'm not sure what that means, please explain the form that takes.  @*vyolla*

No, I'm not giving you a list of where I work or revenue streams or a CV. I don't know why you believe that you may be entitled to ask for that info.

Originally you said:

"The way I work is that I'll offer some of my time for free and some will be monetised."

And then:

"I work for other consumer sites, they pay me. "

Why would other consumer sites in some way pay you for helping out on the ebay forum? @*vyolla*

We are not paid by Ebay.  They don't actually gift us Ferraris either.  (If they do, MINE HAS NOT ARRIVED!)

We can only quote Ebay policy - as is seen in the post from me you quoted.  We don't necessarily always agree with those policies.

If you added the tracking on Ebay, and the tracking shows delivery (on Ebay) and it is more than 48 hours since the items were delivered, then you should contact Ebay Customer Services and ask them where your money is.

Ebay policy says 48 hours after tracking shows delivery,

I sold 3 items last week.

All were sent 48 hour tracked.

Tracking was updated promptly on Ebay and all the payments were in my bank account by 15th February.

I don't get paid for posting replies on an eBay forum, I don't know how many times I have to explain that or how I can phrase it so that you understand.

eBay do not pay their mentors to post on the eBay Community boards.

Other consumer sites may pay somebody who knows their stuff covering most online selling platforms, current tax, import and consumer regs, chargebacks, scams etc.

Just to clarify (trying not to labour the point) mentors do not get paid.

Many people divide their time in such a way - 'offering some time for free' (on Ebay, helping in the forum) - and 'some will be monetised' refers to carrying out a different, paid activity.

It was a poorly worded reply. What I took from it was them meaning some of thier interactions get monitised, for example when they post something that gets marked as answered

Turns out there's no monitisation on the eBay community at all, anyway they've now explained that with added sass.

I think it was quite understandable to interpret the following as relating to ebay as that was the original OP's question:

"The way I work is that I'll offer some of my time for free and some will be monetised."

So the correct interpretation is that you work for free as a Mentor on the ebay forum but some other consumer sites that you work for, pay you.  I'm sorry that you reacted so defensively to my enquiry I was merely trying to understand the situation.

Of course, we get a bonus for 'added sass'.  THAT WAS A JOKE!

Yes, it was worded in a confusing way.

A better one would have been, "I do not get paid for my work on the ebay forum but other sites do pay me'.  As it stands it seemed to suggest that some of the work on the ebay forum was done for free but some was paid for.

There are some Mentors i have a lot of respect for and trust them - some others more recently seem quite naive on selling & tainted in their communal views (much like when the USA CS was imported to lie about MP) and strongly attack the pretend 'Private Sellers'.

- almost as though that action was manipulated by ebay to divide Private from Business sellers especially in light of the recent changes ebay thrust upon members so that the Private section could be subdued into accepting the changes, then the Business sellers are served with their sentence later. Community Managers only said nothing would happen until the next Quarter - when ever that is.

The Buyers Fee was said to be to finance a 'Host' of CS to deal with all the claims which were predicted to occur, since the Buyers were charged a fee for 'some reason'. Id have thought Mentors should have held their hands out as they are mostly better equipped to answer questions and find solutions to Members.

Well if they're getting Ferrari's, I think we deserve at least a Fiat Uno.

Even secondhand with a few thousand miles on the clock.
