WHY?

Why, when I click onto the "A" that changes text colours, won't it work?

All    the  other    symbols

work   just     fine.      

However, when I attempt to change text colour the message says,

"Press escape for text editor"

No colour chart appears, and pressing escape does absolutely nothing.

Any advice would be appreciated.
