Yesterday -
I was talking to a friend, after setting up some settings on His new works phone - it was needing charged every day
He got an alert - from Google
It had gotten the results of a search
'getting Graze Tablets' ???????????
Then I remembered I had just said to Him minutes before
about my next door neighbour with Dementia
"Someone should get Grace a tablet"
so she can trawl Youtube for memories
He had set up the voice assistant, when he first got the phone
I hate these things
One of the reasons I'll never get Alexa or anything similar

They're so clever and we're getting less able to resist. The one bit of really useful innovative tech. that you take up is then followed by a dozen dubious add-ons.
This machine was new this year, my use of it is much the same as when I opened the box but after several updates from MS (one lasting 2.5 hours) the number of things in the alphabetical start menu has grown enormously. Especially in the "M" section.
Whether I use or even want this stuff is not a consideration, it's more a question of "You've got this so obviously you'll want that as well".
Same tactic as used by Govt. Gateway and Insurance Companies.

Very true about making us have stuff we didn't ask for. Can't you uninstall them?
How about this?:-

I was shocked with the amount of unwanted Apps
that are stuffed onto Windows 10

Have you uninstalled them?

I did uninstall some on my old machine. It was getting old and I thought deleting things might speed it up a bit. I didn't notice any difference apart from when I ran AV scans which got quicker for a while. Until the next update when MS would start putting them back again.
