Refund postage

I bought an item that was advertised as having 'free postage'. It's not suitable and I've returned it for a refund, agreeing that I was responsible for the return postage. Now the seller says he wants to deduct £20 from the refund for his postage too. I did not agree to this and I think it's unreasonable. What do you think?
