New seller payment hold

It can facilitate a faster payout for a new seller,  but the best way is to add tracking when you mark the item as dispatched and when that shows delivery, the payout is released sooner.

The reason for this initial hold for new sellers is a security measure.

As a new seller,  eBay have none of your selling history,  so they need to see that a paid for item,  will be shipped and delivered to the buyer.  If you have tracking showing delivery,  this will speed up that payout, and it is sent to your bank usually within a few days.

This has to be in place otherwise anyone could come on eBay sell expensive items,  take the money and not post out the item.  Once you are established as a good seller posting out items promptly,  this hold stops,  and you can select a daily or weekly payout from your sales.

It doesn't matter what other members think. When you start selling on Ebay, you agree to all of their terms and conditions, including this one:

'New or infrequent sellers will experience transaction holds while learning best selling practices. This helps sellers become established and build a strong selling history on eBay. New sellers typically experience holds for up to 30 days, although sometimes it may be longer.'

Your buyer may have left feedback but they still have up to 30 days to decide there is something wrong with what they have bought and to start a return case through Ebay.

"There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn't true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.”
Søren Kierkegaard, Danish philosopher (1813 - 1855)

Unfortunately many of the rules here are the result of dishonest users abusing any trust placed in them.

At one time eBay did exactly what you suggest: released sellers' payments when their buyers had left positive feedback. The result? Many buyers were talked by their sellers buyers into leaving positive feedback before they had received their items, so when they didn't arrive the funds that should have been held to refund them had been released to the seller.

As has been said, you read and accepted eBay's rules in the user agreement.

Sadly dishonesty is rife on eBay, and the rules reflect this. As a new seller, a short delay before you are paid is the very least of the risks of selling here. EBay has become a very risky place to sell things.
