Cancel returns to get refund

I bought two items, they arrived together even though I was charged double postage, anyway the items are terrible, not as described and unfit for intended use. I started a return for each item, however the seller has offered to refund without returns, they say I just need to cancel the return apparently. This then leaves me with no safety net should seller decide not to refund doesn't it? They say they can't refund while I have a return active. Is this correct? Please advise. Thanks

It's certainly not correct , if you close an open  case you cannot open another for that item.

Just escalate on day 4 if not refunded beforehand.

Seller can refund through case without you returning items.

Better for them as they get fees refunded.
