Just got all nostalgic for the old eBay and remembered James phoning me up and trying to tell me off!
Anybody got any more nostalgia?

That's why I'm surprised that RT even continues. It doesn't generate fees, so won't it soon be got rid of?
If a person enjoys an Ebay forum they must log on to reply or at least come to the site.
People who have logged on or have come to the site are more likely to buy something than people who have not done either.

Thanks bank, could you expand that point please?

Simple, if you want people to buy you need to get them through the door in the first place, anything which does that is worth having, people who pass by don't buy anything.
Why do you think Argos joined with Ebay for click and collect, it's feet through the door.

I wouldn't like to meet any posters, personally. I think perhaps keeping them on the end of an Ethernet cable would be my choice. Well maybe I'd make an exception in Malacandran's case. For no other reason than to see if he's a real person.

Thanks electric, you cut to the quick. Are any of us real? Or do we make pretences.
I am a real person. I like to walk about in the nude. That makes me feel good. I confess it freely.
And everyone also likes to do what they want.. So when we meet remotely via an Ethernet cable, we can be OK together.
But personal confrontation is not advisable. It exposes too much bare reality, and would put us off each other.

That's exactly what I used to think about Pony

Hey, lay off Pony.
Although she was really argumentative, she had exceptional talent in her field and I don't mean a grass field for ponies either. She was highly knowledgeable, very clever but her main fault was that she didn't know how to reason out an argument without getting heated. She was red hot on politics which was where there was absolutely no reasoning with her.
I miss Pony. Time for a song:-
It's life Jim, but not as WE know it.
Live long and prosper.

I had no problems with Pony most of the time, had some quite interesting exchanges with her over the years but like you say when she got into an argument she was like a dog with a bone, she never knew when to stop.

Pony, a long standing advisory, who ended up a close ally

Pony was before my time, but I remember Skizzy, Wigsy and Eva (I think that was her name, forgot her ID, something to do with a fairy I think), and they were a lot of fun. Very witty.
And what about her from Oz, her ID is on the tip of my tongue but can't recall it at this moment. She had a small dog as I remember and her (handy) man Friday? She suddenly got very ill and we were all very worried about her. Suzie Q, also from Oz tried to find out what happened to her for us. After a long time she made contact again with someone on here, but never came back on the boards. She was always so positive and funny.

'Loopy Lynn', Harriet. Lived in the tropical part of Oz. Either the tip of Queensland, or the Northern Territories, can't remember which. A very, very funny lady, was Lynn. She used to wheel her dog around the town in a pram. Totally and utterly eccentric.

I never thought the Q & A would get the chop but instead of dealing with troublesome posters, a certain opponent was hell-bent on destroying it.
The AYRABS destroyed Q&A, CeeDee, the 'certain opponent' just put it out of it's misery.
I loved Q&A back in it's heyday. I don't even want to think about how many hours of my life I frittered away, glued to that board, ribs literally aching from laughing so much LOL
It's a shame it became so toxic towards the end. Most of the funny, friendly posters just drifted away.

Yes! Loopy Lynn. That's her.
Do any of you remember the guy that always played devil's advocate, just so he would get to 100 posts? That was his game. Wasn't one of his ID's junk by post or something like that?

That was Barry, logicBC was his other ID.
I liked Barry but J***s jumped on us both when we were bantering and gave us both a 7-day, he said other people didn't know were were just engaging in repartee. Barry came back briefly after the 7-day but carried on just the same and suddenly disapppeared never to be seen again.
