The plot starts with a man contacting police saying he has seen his wife who he thought was dead.
After some detective work, the wife`s whereabouts are found and address passed to husband.
Main police officer speaks to someone who tell him that the husband is violent and the only way for wife to get away is to fake her own death.
He then realises that husband has been led to wife, and they rush to address.
The householder is at the doorstep with a nosebleed, and the husband is dragging the wife by her hair down the path.

Im pretty sure it was a UK one, and I think it was one where the police detective works mostly alone.
