Police..

Please be aware of a scam we’ve been made aware of today. People in‪ Aldershot have been receiving calls from a man claiming to be from Paddington Police Station in London. He says he is a sergeant and gives a collar number of EK192 and sometimes uses the name Povey. He tells people that they have a man in custody suspected of cloning their bank or credit card. The caller will then ask you to hang up and immediately call him back on the 101 number to verify the authenticity of the call. However the caller will not actually terminate the call and may play sounds effects to give the impression that you are genuinely making a new phone call. The caller may then make attempts to obtain personal details from you and tell you that a courier will come and collect the bank card or escort them to withdraw money that will assist the investigation. Please don’t give out any personal information. Hang up and report it to us on 101.
