I have had this Acer laptop for years and never had any problem
Shut it down in the usual way, but following morning it would not start
Blue power light came on but screen stayed black
I unplugged it and tried again after a few hours and it started
I was going out for a while during the day so put it in sleep mode, but on returen it would not wake up
It sounds as though it is trying to start, I can hear a few clicks.
Anything else I can try please

Hi Hot-Bush.
With a laptop, when all else fails, the general rule is to remove the main battery and power lead for 10 minutes, put the battery back in and turn the lappy on. If it powers up, job done. If it still fails to boot, take the battery out again and root around inside for the cmos battery and remove it (Youtube is your friend) Again, leave it for 10 minutes and then put it all back together and try to start it again. If it fires up, job done. If it still won't start try a new cmos battery from eBay. If it works, job done. If it still won\t work, find somebody cleverer than me.

I'm disappointed Gary, you usually say "Fump it".
It's life Jim, but not as WE know it.
Live long and prosper.

Has your screen been flickering lately, Mustard.
I had the same thing happen with an old Packard Bell laptop a while ago - it was my graphics card that had gone. Nothing wrong with the actual operating system.
I would take it in somewhere and get it checked or post a thread on the Techie Board
