Isn't RT the last survivor of a passed age?  In the past, there were forums like the "Q&A" and the "Nag''s Head".  These were hugely entertaining.   But they caused a lot of trouble for the eBay mods.   And, crucially, they didn't contribute much towards eBay's main purpose, which is to promote the on-line buying and selling of goods.

So I'm rather surprised that RT is still here.

Admittedly, the views expressed by posters on RT are always interesting and sometimes extremely insightful.  Anyone can see that many regular RT posters have very powerful intellects.

Yet - look at it from eBay's commercial viewpoint .  Are these intellects contributing anything to the sale of goods, and generating profits for eBay?

The answer is clearly "no".  Therefore, I think that the RT will soon be closed down.

Why would an on line market place want to reduce it's on-line presence, lots of people visit the Boards they simply choose not to post because as others have said they are prevented from having the kind of banter that forums need. eBay has by a variety of poor commercial decisions distanced itself from many who enjoyed the buzz buying and selling on here once provided. Many came onto the boards whilst bidding in auctions but the management stepped in with jackboots on penalising bidders, sellers and posters. The old adage of "never bite the hand that feeds you" was ignored and the rot set in. It will not be reclaimed unless there is a sea change in eBays attitude towards its customers wherever they choose to visit within the eBay site. You never know whether they actually listen to public opinion but one can only try to get them to change course.

Sorry. I was leaving it to Petal. I only use the stuff my iPad keyboard provides. It was different when I could get online with my PC, but it has no internet access.

We have BT fibre in the office, Petal. My iPad connects wirelessly. My PC is in an upstairs bedroom and used to get broadband through a cable in a socket there, but when we got the new BT thingy, OH never got round to connecting up the rest of the house. The stone walls and other issues means wifi won't reach most of the house. He will get round to it. Eventually, Maybe. It works where he needs it lol.

We had the same problem when we bought my son a new computer and he wanted it in his bedroom.

He uploads ginormous files to YouTube and Flickr and I knew that wifi wouldn't cut it but I didn't know of any other way to connect him to the internet without having cables laying around all over the house.

Talk Talk recommended using Powerline Adapters:

I was a bit sceptical that they would work but amazingly they work perfectly and they are so easy to use - you literally just plug them in.

If you're short of plug sockets in your house though, it's best to buy the ones that double up as normal plug sockets aswell. Unfortunately we didn't this time but will know next time if and when they need replacing.
