Early release?

Here we have a bloke supposedly sentenced to 21 years in prison in 2006 (reduced from 24 years after an appeal) who was let out on "Weekend release" only 5 years later.

Just WHAT is the point in handing down a sentence of 21 years if such prisoners are being allowed out after such a short time?

Rehabilitation is one thing but choosing prisoners who are "suitable" seems to be quite another where those who make such decisions are concerned? Did they not know he had a history of absconding?

The costs involved in tracing him are enormous and cases like that and others involving the early release of violent offenders who go on to commit further serious crime should surely have an impact on those people who regarded them as suitable cases to be "trusted" after only serving part of their sentence.

It's been a long time since you got justice in this Country, if indeed you ever did, what you get is the Law. The Law was compiled by People and over the Years has morphed into something of a convenience ie. How much does it cost to keep the prisoner, are there enough prison spaces and for how long, will the sentence make any difference to the prisoner anyway  etc.etc. Society has long since put a price on life, over that price and we just aint worth it I'm afraid...............makes you proud doesn't it !!

When their sentenced to so many years it should mean to serve those years. Life should mean LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Not day release to have a jaunt around the town,,nor reduction of sentence for good behaviour. THEIR BAD BEHAVIOUR WAS THE CRIME,,,THEN DO THE TIME!!!!!. MY GAWD help us!!!!. They get better treat in there anyway than most of us at HMs pleasure!!!!!!. Most of them want to go back!!!!. Take away all the comforts too,,,,they dont deserve it!. Their a criminal!!!!!.
