I was reading yet another ongoing case where people were invited to "invest" in a scheme promising good yearly returns and also to return their investment in ten years plus 25%.
I won't mention the scheme as it's all still under investigation.
The "perpetrator" is under investigation over £80 million invested in the scheme and it seems many people put large sums in to it but have never seen any returns.
Why oh why do people "invest" in schemes which promise what seems to be unbelievably attractive terms? As was seen on the boards here many times in the early days of ebay, "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is".
Have people not yet realised that most "investing" is really gambling? Even legitimate operations have small print that says "The value of investments can go down as well as up".
I get exasperated reading how stupid people have been with their money and when it becomes clear that it's all probably "gone", claim it's everyone's fault but their own and look for recompense from..... anywhere.
The RT has become a bit of an abandoned wasteland since the "re-vamp" and most if not all the interesting posters who participated in discussions have left, so I guess I'm wasting my time but.... I'll have a go at stimulting a few replies?
It's life Jim, but not as WE know it.
