I've just tried to email a company but when I click on the 'contact us' button I get a pop up saying.......Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed.

Any ideas?

In the "Search Programs and Files" in your bottom left, type "Default" then click "Default Programs" when it comes up and click "Windows Live Mail" and then on the right side of the window check for where it says "Set Default Programs," set this as your default program.

Windows Live Mail doesn't come up only Windows Contacts which has all its defaults.

I should have said I'm using Windows 7 Pro not Win10. I've looked elsewhere but can't find anything relative, first time I've had this problem.

I think the problem is I have never installed Windows Essentials which is why Windows Live Mail doesn't appear. I've always used Outlook for emailing. I've only had this pc since the middle of last year and didn't bother installing Essentials because support for it was ending this month.
