The fees you get charged depend on how you set up the listing. eBay takes a 10% cut of the selling price if the item sells, but if the item doesn't sell then you don't get charged Final Value Fees. However, if you decided to list the car for sale as an Auction listing and you added a reserve price then eBay will still charge you for having used the reserve option on the listing, regardless of whether the car sold or not by the time the auction ended.
If you are going to sell a vehicle on eBay then the best option is to set the listing up as a Classified listing. That way the listing stays live until such time as the car sells or you change your mind and decide to end the listing. If you do decide to advertise the car for sale on eBay and you list the car for sale using the Classified format then the price comes to £14.99. If you end up selling the car via a Classified listing then eBay charge a 1% final value fee in relation to the sale, with a minimum fee of £20.00 and a maximum fee of £35.00.
Finally, should you decide to list the car for sale on eBay set the listing up as a Classified listing, as if you list the car that way then unlike listings for vehicles sold using the Auction or Buy It Now formats you do not have to accept PayPal on the listing, in which case the buyer would have to pay in hard cash or via a bank transfer if the car sold. That way you would be less susceptible to buyers making false claims that they didn't authorise the payment and trying to claim their money back. It's also worth noting that eBay offer no seller protection whatsoever to anybody selling vehicles on eBay, so bear that in mind before you make your final decision as to whether to list the car for sale on eBay or via some other means.
