Hello
I am very new to ebay and looking to sell some item very shortly. The thing I am very confused about is postage and label generate.
I would like to know how people send items in bulk e.g if I sell 10 items every day - I cannot got to post office as they saying I need to print my own labels at home and bring them here for proof of posting. This is mainly because my local post office is very busy and they would not produce proof of posting. I then tried Click and drop service from RM but label printed is too big with my address and cost of label on it? I don't want my buyers to know that I am selling items with this amount of posting? How can I avoid that or is there a way to avoid this?
Finally I would like to know how people print their stamps at home where they send parcel with their own stamp with 2 written on it for 2nd class and 1 for first class? How do they generate this.
Please can some one help me ?
Thanks
Whatever service you use, you need to get Proof of Posting receipts at the Post Office. You need them to lodge claims with Royal Mail for loss or damage in transit, and for Unauthorised Account Use claims. And you need to keep them for 13 months.
I buy my postage labels direct from my chosen carriers online, not on Ebay. If I've quite a lot of orders to dispatch in one day, I list them on a Certificate of Posting form (you can download one at royalmail.com). The counter clerk at the PO then quickly checks each package off against the list, and date-stamps the form. Quick and easy.
As you're planning to list a lot of items and hoping to sell a lot each day, that suggests you're a business. Private accounts are only for those selling off their old no longer wanted possessions. Anyone who makes, grows, refurbishes, or buys in (new or used) items to sell, is a business and must be registered as such. Not only an Ebay requirements but the law. For confirmation, go to Ebay's Seller Centre (link at foot of any page). For full information, go to the government's website. And note that there is no such thing as a 'hobby seller', or a 'just trying it out to see how it goes' seller. How much or how little you sell or make is totally irrelevent, so you must upgrade your account from private to business before you list anything for sale.
