I have sold item , customer is willing to wait for six weeks , as it is out of stock, will the reference number on the address still be live in six week?
You can't expect the buyer to wait six weeks. That's asking them even to give up their rights under eBay's 30 day money back guarantee, if they don't receive their item.
However, if you make a seller-initiated, out of stock cancellation eBay will place a damaging defect on your account, and you will forfeit any fee return.
If the buyer will agree, it's better to send them a cancellation request, saying that they agreed to the cancellation. Think about promising to let them know when it's in stock, and offering them a discount. You need their goodwill to avoid an account defect and negative feedback.
I doubt it,
It would be more sensible to refund the buyer and notify them when the items are back in stock, then they can buy again
