postage

Hi, very new to selling,  can someone tell me how to adjust the postage?

The amount eBay is putting on is not covering my postage

just as a side note, that diving thing your selling is too big for 2nd class postage, so you`ll need to change that.

Also your listing with a reserve, which is a waste of money, because you will be charged 4% of the price whether it sells or not, so if it doesn`t sell and relists again, that`s another 4% 🙂

Auction listings with buy it now are also a waste of time, because as soon as someone places a bid, the buy it now disappears 🙂

The best option is to use the Advanced Selling Form when preparing your listings.  That way you have more control over your listings and eBay do not tend to interfere and change things on listings created using the Advanced Selling Form, whereas when it comes to listings created using the basic listing tool they have been known to change certain aspects of listings without the seller's permission.  Ignore any silly warnings that it's only for business sellers - anybody can use it, and you will not be penalised in any way for using the Advanced Selling Form should you wish to follow this advice.

When setting up the first listing using the Advanced Selling Form, once you've uploaded the photos and have included a good item description make sure that you fill in all of the Item Specifics and when you get to the postage options decide upon how much you want to charge for each postage option offered.  Enter that amount next to the postage option you're adding to the listing, then repeat as necessary for any alternative postal options until you've finished adding the postal options.  Once all of the required fields have been filled in check the listing again from start to finish to make sure that there are no errors that need correcting - if you find any correct them at that point before you list the item for sale.

Once you've finished preparing the listing and are ready to either schedule it to go live at a time and date of your choosing or to list it to go live straightaway click on the option to save that listing as a template.  If you do that then should you come to sell any similar items in the future you can just call up that template, delete the original photos and item description and replace them with new photos and an item description that relates to the latest item you're listing.  All of the presaved information from the fields that you filled in when you created the first listing - including the postage options and the associated costs - will be automatically applied to the latest listing, so you won't have to fill them in again.  If you list your items in this way it'll save you a lot of time in the long run; however, if at some point you find that you need to update the presaved information you can update the fields manually and save the template again so that all of the updated information gets carried across for when you use the template the next time.

Never rely on ebay guesses and remember that if postage is £3.10, ebay take 10% (31p) so you only receive £2.79. and Paypal also take their cut of 2.9% as well. To not lose money on postage you need to charge about £3.50

when creating the listing click on 'change' in the postage section,

you can then change the P&P
