Sold an item

I sold an item on ebay, that i had stated was incomplete as i couldnt find the other pieces.

The buyer requested i have a look, so i did and i found some of the other pieces, that i was not offering in my listing, but i still offered to post them anyway!

Is the buyer allowed to open a request that the other pieces didnt arrive even though i wasnt offering them in the listing?

If the missing pieces were not advertised as part of the original listing then the buyer shouldn't complain that he didn't receive them, as the missing parts were never mentioned in the item description of the original listing as being included with the item.  However, eBay have a bad reputation for deciding cases in favour of the buyer when they really shouldn't have done so, so if the buyer opens up an Item Not As Described case the chances are that eBay will favour the buyer.  If that does indeed happen then inform the buyer via the eBay Resolution Centre that you will issue a full refund on the condition that he returns the item to you in the exact same condition that he received it.  Issue an eBay Returns Label so that the buyer can post the item back to you - you'll only have to pay for this if the buyer actually uses it, but if he's just trying it on and actually wants to keep the item but was just hoping to get you to issue a partial refund so that he could get the item even cheaper then by standing your ground and issuing a reply along the lines of "I'll refund your money in full as soon as I receive the item back again" then this may be enough to put the buyer off of returning the item.  If so then you may well never hear from him again.

In the event that the buyer chooses to return the item then once you've received it refund the buyer's money via eBay in order to avoid picking up a defect on your account.  Once you've done that take some new shots of the item with all of the parts included - including the parts that had been lost the first time - and update the item description to accurately reflect what is and is not included as part of the sale.  That way it should help to minimise the chances of this happening to you again.

Whatever the final outcome, make sure that you add this buyer to your Blocked Bidders List.  To do so click on the following link

http://offer.ebay.co.uk/ws/ebayisap/.dll?bidderblocklogin. and it should open up a new page with a big white box on it.  Add the buyer's User ID to that box and then click on the blue "Submit" button beneath that box.  As soon as you have done that the buyer will be unable to purchase anything else from you in the future and will therefore not be able to waste any more of your time.
