I recently sold an item, seller paid promptly by Paypal, but unfortunately I found a problem and couldn't complete. I cancelled the sale on ebay which all went therough straightforwardly, and checked on Paypal and that seemed fine too - everything backed out with a "Refunded – Payment received" showing against the buyer's eBay id.
However, ebay is showing the refund as pending. The message against the order is "Thanks. We'll let you know as soon as the refund is complete". I'm a bit mystified as to what is going on here. Does the buyer need to do anything more to get his refund? Or to confirm he's had it? Or is ebay waiting for something else?
I haven't heard anything from the buyer since I sent an apologetic email telling him I was cancelling and refunding, and I don't want to be a pest asking him what's going on when I've already messed him around, but would like to be sure I've done everything I need to put this situation right. It's the first time I've ever had to do this and I feel very embarassed about it.
Any clarification appreciated - can't find anything in the Help that Helps.
Nothing else needs to be done. I expect the sytem is just taking time to update. It happens, especially when sites are really busy.
