if I sign up for managed payments I have to post straight away but I won't know if the money is in the Bank for maybe 4 days sounds a bit risky to me what do others say about this?
Jim
There's nothing risky about it, Jim. Once Ebay has deposited the buyer's payment in your Ebay account, it's safe to ship. If there was something dodgy about the payment, it would not have reached your Ebay account in the first place - Ebay would have rejected it.
I'm a business seller on another account, and was moved into Managed Payments some months ago. A buyer's payment arrives in my Ebay account, I ship same or next day depending on the time it arrives, Ebay then transfers the payment to my bank the following day, and it clears into my account within minutes. The timeframe for a payment to clear depends on your bank, not on Ebay, so if your bank takes a whopping 4 days to clear one, I suggest you find a better bank!
Everything you need to know about Managed Payments - what it is and how it works - is in the Seller Centre. Have a good read, as it is not optional - every seller will eventually have to accept it as a replacement for PayPal if they want to continue selling here.
You don't have any choice, it is coming to us all whether we want it or not.
I can only speak from experience with the Seller hub. When an item is sold it moves to the Sold Items section, on the left a serial number is quoted which reflects the number of items the seller has sold. Once paid this changes to an Ebay generated number (Order Detais) which when clicked provides the buyers address.
As this only happens AFTER payment is made that is good enough for me.
