Hi
This question is a bit of a moan but also out of curiosity. I’m a basic sort of seller - not selling as a business but still selling regularly.
I’ve noticed recently an increase in the number of bids that are withdrawn - “can’t contact seller” when no attempt has been made and “mistake” when multiple bids have been made. I’ve also had a couple where the winning bidder thinks it’s Ok to not pay straight away and tells me when they are going to pay. Today I had a classic - I didn’t expect to win and can’t afford to pay until I’m paid. Er - so why bid?
Then there are the ones where it seems like they are playing a game with the other bidders to see how high they will go then cancelling - again multiple bids so mistake is out of the question. It’s usually with expensive items
I'm reporting and blocking as appropriate but I’m curious - are others experiencing this? It may be a lot of the stuff I am selling at the moment (for my son) is attracting young newbies who are lacking in Ebay etiquette.
Thanks!
I think you have answered your question perfectly in your post!
Yes, there are many more new members so they do not perhaps understand that bids are binding.
Yes, there will always be the ones placing a bid and retracting it perhaps here to see how high the previous bid was placed at.
Yes, there is always one who will ask to pay later! Wonder if that works for them in Marks and Spencer too, taking an item with the idea of paying later in the month!
You are also managing this correctly, blocking those who mess with your auctions, opening unpaid item cases for those who do not pay.
To be honest , all the problems you are facing above , are the reasons why I only sell Buy it Now items with an immediate payment selected, far less hassle.
