Long story but sold an item on ebay, the royal mail label I got from ebay was incorrect so had to pay for a label outside ebay (Evri next day). Contacted ebay and the buyer about this and they both confirmed this was fine. Fast forward a few weeks and the buyer messages me saying that Evri attempted to deliver when they weren’t in, didn’t leave a call back card and tracking showed it was ready to collect at a parcel shop. The buyer didn’t check the tracking for a couple weeks and when they did and went to collect the shop told them they only keep parcels for 7 days and it would’ve been sent back. Contacted Evri and they came back saying they couldn’t locate the parcel and I could file a claim. For whatever reason because this was a one time occasion sending outside of ebay I didn’t pay the extra for full coverage so only have the £20 coverage for a £200+ item. What’s the course of action here?

Refund the buyer, claim the £20 from Evri and learn an expensive lesson. There really isn't anything else you can do.
