150 positive feedbacks for not paying!

Just had a non payer that I blocked. Thought I would have a quick look at their feedback!!

 

Of 160 feedbacks, 148 are positive but saying they are a non-payer. And no, I am not leaving her feedback.

I do realise and understand that some members / sellers may not know the full rules of eBay but 160, beggars belief.

 

Not only have they All broken feedback rules by leaving a negative  comment for that buyer, they raised the buyer'sfeedback score, by 160.

 

Bit of a clue that there's no red dot for leaving a negative,  but they still pressed ahead,  and thus allowed this person to happily carry on ruining others sales and turning up on yours.

 

Not even a quarter of those negative feedbacks if the sellers had acted correctly and opened non payment cases,  would have banned that buyer for life from buying on eBay.

This is incredible - the buyer must have been reported to eBay at least 20 times. Why in God's name are eBay not responding!! These are just the negative comments left (the tip of the iceberg) - they must have over a thousand failed payments. Why is this allowed to happen? I am flabbergasted!

Blame the sellers.

Amazing that less than two sellers have cancelled a sale for non payment, and given the non payer a strike. Two strikes is all it takes! It involves fewer key presses than leaving feedback.

So hold on.....sellers are leaving positive feedbacks as a negative which makes ebay look like the buyer is getting positive feedback. That's clever....not.

Unfortunately it also requires sellers to know about blocking buyers.  It takes both to make the system work.

Certain buyer restriction settings should be set by default, such as the 2 non payer strikes in 12 months one.

Incredulous, I can't believe that this buyer has not been reported automatically - simply by the sellers cancelling the transaction for non payment 

 

Here is the ebay policy

 

Buyers must pay for the items they purchase on eBay within 4 calendar days.

If the buyer doesn't pay within this timeframe, the seller can cancel the order and an unpaid cancellation will be recorded on the buyer's account.

Not at all sure what ebay class as excessive - this is always a grey area 'open to interpretation'

Which of these is most likely?

1. 160 sellers don't know how to follow the correct procedure to get the buyer a non-payer strike

2. Buyer knows the system well enough to get the strike removed (160 times!) but doesn't know how to report the seller and get the feedback removed

Neither

 

A seller does not need to know the 'correct procedure'  all  a seller needs to know is how to cancel an unpaid order 

 

if the buyer does not pay cancellation for non payment is allowed after 4 days.

 

The seller does not have to report the buyer  for it to be recorded on the buyer's account  - it is an automatic defect against the buyer 

 

I cannot believe 160 sellers when cancelling the bogus orders did not choose the reason buyer failed to pay !

Many sellers refuse to wait the four days, hence my comment about the correct procedure. Seen some sellers cancelling sales less than 24hrs later due to non-payment, but obviously using a different reason.

I didn't mention the seller reporting the buyer.

I think no 2 is impossible.  Ebay may remove one or two strikes but that's all.

 

No 1, seller's not knowing about unpaid cancellations, strikes and the blocking system , is the answer here.

This is an interesting statement by ebay in their unpaid item policy, the more I think about it, the more I question whether ebay rely solely on sellers blocking buyers  rather than impose any sanctions themselves ? 

 

What do you make of this statement by ebay ?

While I have seen many buyers on the forums complaining about seller blocks I have never seen a complaint that could be traced back to ebay action.

 

I don't think ebay action actually exists.

I've recently had a non-payer on a newly created account with lots of green dot negs for non-payment.

 

I can't believe that I'm the only seller who's closed with a non payment strike & am wondering if the blocking is actually working.

 

I've just checked my activity log <as they were not the only non-payer recently> & nothing is showing.

 

Worth checking to see if anyone has any evidence of blocks happening as maybe it's broken.

The most recent entry for non payers on my blocked buyer activity log is 16th August. But I certainly seem to be seeing fewer bidders blocked for non payment strikes, I only have two in the three months that the activity log shows. A year ago I'd expect to see a dozen or so. Perhaps the system is working? (Ooh, naïve!) Touch wood though, I do seem to be experiencing fewer non payers recently.

I don't sell very much, but have what I would say seen an increase in non-payers over the last year, so it sounds like sellers are not closing using the unpaid strike system.

 

I mostly sell on my clothes & shoes, which is probably the worst cat for this though...

It's ridiculous isn't it.  Ebay actually improved something and people still don't use it!
