Postage for low value items

I know this has been covered before but the suggested solutions don't work for me.  A number of my items I'm selling are low value and low weight e.g. individual postcards with a price of say £1 -2.50.  Simple delivery insists on showing a minimum postage charge of £2.74.  There is no way a buyer will pay that and I cannot find anywhere an option to override it.  It used to be so simple.  I have spent literally hours trying to resolve this without success.  What on earth are ebay thinking to get us in this mess?  Can anyone come up with any new solutions please?  Are ebay addressing this issue?

(And I refuse to use Evri too, the worst delivery company ever - their slogan should be Evri time a *bleep*-up.  Why have ebay - and Amazon for that matter - decided to use them?  They must be cheap).

In theory you should be able to opt out of simple delivery if using letter post but it doesn't seem to be working at the moment.  I've still got Switch to advanced options > Custom postage on my selling form to opt out of SD altogether.

You can opt out of using Evri here:
