I sold an item to a local buyer. As I was expecting to post it, 'buyer collects' was not ticked as an option. I am quite happy that they do collect, but how do we go about the proof of delivery thing and consequent long wait for my payout?
This new system is full of flaws.

Hi anidleman, thanks for your post.
Just to add to the advice you've been given above, which is correct, I just wanted to say that we don't really recommend handing over items in person if you didn't include collection in your listing. This is because then you would not have a way to protect yourself if an item not received case is filed for the transaction in question. So, at that stage you're better off shipping the item, or cancelling and relisting for collection as it was said before. 👍
Thank you,
Marco

Given a collection isn't actually happening, you can mark it as shipped but with no method. However, as there is no tracking to show delivery, your payment would be on hold for 14 days.
Alternatively, agree with the buyer to cancel the current order - put the item up for sale again with collection and get them to buy.

The system is not flawed , you just cannot change any detail on an item once it's sold.
Selling a listed collection item the buyer receives a 6 digit QR code to give to you which you either scan or manually enter on the order details, and this is your only proof that an item has been collected, and it releases your payout sooner.
The best way to do this now , is the end the item citing Problem with Buyers Address , and relisting it as a Collection item, for your buyer to buy it again and for them to receive this all important code, explain they must bring this with them or the item cannot be released.
When sending messages make it very clear, the reason for cancelling the order, that you are going to relist it on eBay for the buyer to buy again, and this is not for an off eBay sale. eBay read all messages going through their system.

Thank you marco, its nice to hear the official line on the issue. In the end I dropped it off 1/4 mile from my house. A very nice and happy customer and will wait the 14 days.
The work involved in cancelling and relisting, risking a strike from ebay? ( I didnt think they were keen on cancelling sales ) explaining to a customer who would have to be refunded, co-ordination a relisting and the risk of someone else getting in quick and annoying the guy who won it in the first place. I'd rather wait the 14 days.
My take on recent changes is, to be honest I'd rather pay a modest commission and stay the way things were. I dont like the odd pricing on a listing ( my £65 listing appears as £67.32 ) with no transparency that £2.32 is an ebay fee, complications with tracking, relying on unreliable courier data and delayed payouts. I'm not clear what extra protection it adds for the buyer, its certainly not a change that adds to the seller experience. But many thanks for stepping in and your solution.
