why is ebay refusing to send my messages?

when I sell an item I always send a message to the buyer to let them know I've posted it. I've done it for ages, but today ebay wouldn't allow my message to be sent. attached is a screenshot of what I got on my phone when i tried to send a message.

why is ebay refusing these messages?

and while I'm at it I found ebay customer services to be completely useless.

How bizarre.

I do not use the app or mobile browser, because of it's failings to ' do everything',  and lately it seems less and less options / features become available on those devices.

Can you switch to the more reliable laptop / PC and use Chrome that works well with eBay,  try sending your messages from there.

Whilst a nice touch,  thankfully it's not an essential part of the transaction that you need to complete,  marking it as dispatched automatically sends the buyer an eBay message their item has been posted.

I don't know the reason for eBay stopping this messages, if you've sent enough of them they've probably been identified as spamming. Honestly, I wouldn't send these messages, I personally dislike them and know that many others do. I like information on a need to know basis, and buyers are already aware that their items have been shipped. There's nothing more tedious than receiving loads of messages each day from sellers letting you know that the item has been shipped when I already know that.

I've always thought it was just a common courtesy to let people know. I'm
the other way round I dislike robot emails and I prefer an email from a
human being

I receive hundreds of emails/texts/messages each day across various platforms, and 98% of those just don't need to be sent. For example with an item bought from Vinted - item sent notification from Vinted, item sent notification same as you do from seller, notification from Royal Mail or Evri that they have my package, notification that it's on its way, notification of approx. delivery time, notification of change to delivery time, delivered notification. Any surplus messages there just add to the deluge.
