Hi all. Two months ago i sold a vinyl record for £50 but the buyer was not happy as i t was not a first pressing, i thought it was but he says it has a different matrix number so he asked for a refund. So like an eejit i automatically pressed 'refund' without sending a postage label first, yes my fault. Now the buyer will not return the record.
I got Ebay to call six times! they did say it was my first mistake but they just fobbed me off, i eventually got an email from them saying i wont be getting a refund.
Buyer says he will deal only send it back via an ebay return label but of course that is closed the second i pressed refund and he knows it
What are my options?
thanks
Wally Cassidy (yes my name is Wally)

The transaction is now closed with eBay, but you can still buy a Royal Mail label online and attach it to an eBay message for your buyer. Hopefully they'll play ball once they understand that you cannot issue an eBay returns label.
You could direct them to this thread and we can confirm that.

Thanks for the reply but he wont go for that, i would be wasting more money. he will only send with an ebay label. in other words 'im keeping it'

Sadly in view of your posts I feel there is absolutely nothing you can do.
When dealing with eBay you do - I'm afraid - have to stick to the rules 100%. EBay really will not help here as "you have just one chance" and in any event you are well outside their strict time limit. You had no obligation to issue a refund through eBay after 2 months. I cannot see what else you can do. Even legally the buyer can simply say "eBay had a system which you chose not to use" [I know it was a mistake]
I wish I were wrong or could think of a workround

Nice one thanks, yes stupid mistake but its a shame the buyer is allowed to get away scot free. there should be a pop up window after you press 'refund' it should say 'are you sure?' for old eejits like me. thanks anway. you learn by your mistakes

There absolutely should be something, that's for sure. This sort of mistake happens very often, you are certainly not alone. There's another post from someone who's done the same thing on this page. This, to me, shows how easy it is for peeps to think they are doing the right thing in pressing refund, forgoing any chance of getting their item returned.
