I sold an item as a buy it now. The buyer asked for more pictures after they did the buy it now. I sent more picture and said 'if you're not sure about it I'll just relist it'. Buyer said 'no that's ok just send it'. As soon as they received it, they completed a not a described return request. I did an google image of the item and shared what it said on the listing as well as taking a few pictures. Buyer said it's not Early 20th century. So I pay postage to send it, pay the return postage. Is Ebay ok about buyers wasting sellers time? The buyer isn't out of pocket and I could have sold this to someone else but instead I am stuck waiting for the item back and the buyer won't respond to my email asking for follow up information on their return reason.

You have been unlucky, but you do need to accept the return and provide a label. The buyer does not have to respond to you and, after 3 days, they can ask Ebay to step in.
My last return request was from a buyer who complained the earrings I sold to them were 'not vintage'. I bought them secondhand in the 80s, and Ebay allow 1980s items in jewellery to be classed as vintage. I messaged the buyer to state this, but they sent me a picture of some very tarnished and tatty earrings to 'prove' that mine were not vintage.
I accepted the return but I did report the buyer for abusing the Money Back Guarantee. Genuinely the first time I have ever reported a buyer in 20 years.

I accepted the return straight away. Just feel the buyer is abusing the money back guarantee as well. 'Send it and I'll see if I like it' Thank you for your reply and example. Maybe its more common than I thought.
