Hello, 3 months ago I bought a refurbished laptop from an ebay store. A few days ago the laptop stopped working and even started to spark from the power inlet. I contacted the ebay seller and requested assistance with the issue but was told that the item only had a 14 day warrenty. The seller refuses any liability and has even deleted the sale so that I can not leave negative feedback. It is my understanding that my Statutory Rights last for 6 months from date of purchase and regardless of whether the item is new or refurbished. Could the ebay community please advise if my understanding is correct and how best to proceed with my case.
Thanks
Ebay and paypal money back guarantees are for items that are not as described when they arrive
and not a warranty.
Any warranty is between you and the seller.
If they are business in the UK then contact Citizens Advice for their help.
If overseas or a private seller then there is nothing you can do.
See the bottom of the page on the link where it says
Ebay Money Back Guarantee is not a product warranty
https://www.ebay.co.uk/pages/help/policies/money-back-guarantee.html#receive
These money back guarantees on ebay and paypal are over and above any rights you have under UK law
You have 60 days go leave feedback
