Where is the Standard letter option in Simple Delivery for small items?

I am a private seller and have a number of electronic component items for sale, that are very small and can be delivered via Royal Mail standad letter second class, primarlily to keep the costs down and be competitive.

In Simple Delivery the standard letter option does not exist, why not?

I can only select large letter and if I offer free postage my gains are now reduced due to this.

I realise standard letter second class is not tracked, which eBay prefer, but for small value items it makes sense to keep overall costs to a minimum by offering the standard letter option.

It is certainly disappointing to see eBay introducing changes without doing careful assessment. The buyer protection fee was introduced and initially had a steep up front fee. So, for small value items this became excessive.  Thankfully eBay have now corrected this, but seemed to wait for feedback before implementing the changed buyer protection fees.

Simple Delivery seems to have gone down a similar route.

Apparently, if I become a business I get all of these options. But, I do not want to be selling in eBay as a business seller.

Does anyone know of any quirks to get round these restrictions?

You're supposed to be able to opt out of SD for letter items under £10/100g so you can choose your own postage.   It doesn't seem to be working at the moment but Rick's advice should work for small as well as large items - here:

You should also check your category is eligible.  In FAQs on here:

click on "Which listings aren't required to use Simple Delivery?"
