I recently bought a ICOM amateur radio and on completion of the purchase I was charged VAT. What I find frustrating is that chargeable VAT was not mentioned on the listing for this radio or any others for that matter. i understand VAT and TAX may be applied when purchasing goods outside the UK but this Radio was within the UK.
I had a long chat with an eBay agent who told me that VAT is chargeable on all digital goods which I find very hard to believe. Has anyone else come across this or help me to understand the process here?
