I am a top rate Ebay business seller with over 5000+ positive feedbacks. I got an email out of the blue this evening telling me my account payments are on hold because of suspicious selling activity and I would now only get paid once items have been delivered. When I rang ebay all they could do was point me towards a small clause that basically says they can put your payments on holds whenever they wanted. When I asked them to explain what the suspicious activity was, they told me they can't tell me.
I run my business and pay my bills as a full time ebayer and this hold up will cause me no end of issues with cash flow.
Has anyone else had this issue of supposed suspicious activity? Could do with some advice.
My suspicion is that this is just a chance for Ebay to hold onto our money for longer.

No idea what could have caused this, BUT it is not an excuse to hold on to your money, as no interest can be earnt on Electronic Money.
Have you had an unusual number of cases opened this year? Something like that could possibly be the reason. Have you looked at your seller dashboard to see if anything sticks out as unusual?
Looking at your feedback and DSR ratings, nothing unusual there.

Thanks John, but I'm not sure thats true. There are a lot of articles out there that say they have admitted back in 2023 that they do hold onto the money and gain interest.

Is the money electronic when they have been paid by my buyers and are simply holding onto it awaiting the 3 days after the package has been delivered...which means even longer if I am selling to the anywhere abroad.
Clearly this is not a great way to treat trusted sellers who do sell abroad and would make a lot of us think twice about it, if we can be waiting 7 days for shipping to land and then 3 days after that. That's 10 days they have had our money. What happens if the package goes to the buyer and then the buyer is away over summer holidays etc...do we then wait three weeks until they are back and then hope they go to the PO to pick up quickly. They haven't complained in this instance and why should we wait whilst ebay is sitting on our money earning interest.
