Simple Delivery - The seller is not really protected, it seems.

I've had a sale of a GPU posted through the simple delivery service, as my understanding is that the seller is also protected if anything happens to the item. I did my part, shipped the item within a few hours and dropped it off at a parcel shop. According to the tracking information, it never left the parcel shop, so I haven't received any money and I have a message that the buyer has been refunded. But I don't have any information on what is happening now on my end, what is happening with my item?

I've tried to find some information myself, but there's nothing about the seller's "protection" if you choose simple delivery. I ended up in the chat asking a human assistant and the second one told me that they don't really do anything to solve the seller's problem, they just protect the buyer so that I can contact the courier myself and try to get something back. Is this false advertising on the part of Ebay? I am leaving the information I received from the support person here, maybe it will help someone when choosing the delivery service they want to use.

So here on our end wahat I can assure you is regarding your funds on the transaction, we appreciate that you have done your part in
sending the item but the item was handled by the courier the time it was lost if you wish to have it back you can contact the courier for
them to check or track the last know location.

OK, I'll do that, so can you not do anything else related to this case then?

Regarding with the case the case is already been closed and the buyer has already been refunded, and the funds that were on hold would
be released with the next 24-48 hours.

However if you can explain more how you want the case to proceed I'd be more than glad to explain what we can do here.

So in simple terms the seller is not protected, they can deal with the courier themselves...

I acknowledge your sentiment and so here on our end the only thing that we can control is the funds of the transaction regarding the
item they are only being handled by you as the seller, the couriers and then to the buyer.

Although on the help page:Although on the help page it says the above.Although on the help page it says the above.

Assuming ebay are the ones that made the refund, which appears to be the case, then you have been protected by using Simple Delivery as you still get the funds from the sale.

With the release of the on hold funds, I assumed it was the buyer's funds, my mistake. Now I have received the price the item was sold for, so I understand what this protection means.
