I sold a pair on converse and the buyer has messaged to say they don't fit properly. She states that I didn't mention in the description that they wouldn't tighten. I didn't mention it because it wasn't a problem and I wasn't aware it was a defect.
Ebay are saying I should pay for return but I don't see how this is my fault as a seller?
How do I go about this

It's tedious, but there's nothing to be gained by refusing the return.
Buyers have 30 days to return an item that they consider is not as described under eBay's Money Back Guarantee, and if your buyer has already opened or opens an eBay item not as described return, they'll be required to send it back to you for a full refund of their original payment, and you'll need to provide them with a pre-paid returns label (if you don't provide a label, the buyer can escalate the dispute and get one from eBay, who will re-charge you for it on your next invoice).
You will get a defect against your selling account if you don’t accept the return (or issue a refund if you don't want your item back) and the buyer escalates the dispute to ask eBay to step in, which they can do after 3 days.
Once you get your item back, if you feel that your buyer has misused eBay’s Money Back Guarantee you can use the Report Buyer link next to the item in your My eBay (in this case I would report them for abusing eBay's Money Back Guarantee). This won't affect the outcome of the return case though.

I'm happy to accept the return but it's so annoying having to also pay the return postage when I'm not at fault 😢 I've only just started selling on here again. I think I'll quit before I loose any more money!

It is totally annoying when buyers claim that there's a problem just because it doesn't fit, but all you can do is to report them.
