Seller Closed return without issuing refund

Ebay highlighted a safety concern on an item i bought (childs toy). The toy was refused import permission and listing has subsequently.been removed by eBay for policy violation.

I requested a return highlighting the issues raised by Ebay and the seller rejected the return request.

How do I  follow up to get a refund?

Any help gratefully received

I don't understand the sequence of events here.

Did you receive the item?
I assume not as it was refused import permission.

Why did you open a return?
You should have opened an item not received case if you didn't get the item.

Can you confirm that you did not ever receive the item ordered?

A seller can't decline a return if you select the correct reason for returning the item.

However, it looks like you may be out of time, eBay has a 30 day returns window.

If you paid via debit/credit card issue a not received chargeback, you should get a refund that route with no problem.

Thanks for your message.

I ordered in October and recieved the item.

Ebay then highlighted the safety concern and the report raised on
26th November by the office for product safety and standards.

Ebay advised to contact seller and I requested a return. The seller closed
the return request with no message.

Hope that clarifies things

Best regards

You are too late to get ebay involved.

Your payment provider may help or contact citizens advice.

As advised, the only potential route for a refund now you are outside the 30 days Ebay allow, is to contact your payment provider.

Unless you used Paypal or your Ebay balance, you should be able to get a refund on the grounds that you bought an item online which is not fit for purpose.

So, contact your bank or credit card company.
