The seller is the one who refunds you although the payment does come via Ebay.
So, have you opened a case and returned the item through Ebay?
Have you had an email from Ebay saying the refund has been processed?
How did you pay? (Paypal, credit card, debit card?)
More information will mean better advice.

Seller does not have to tell ebay, that is why you return using tracked mail. That is the only way to get a refund. Having received it back it is up to seller to refund, but unless you have tracked proof of delivery and returned through an ebay case you will not be able to force refund.
Did you open a return case? If so what sort, as that determines who pays for return postage.

Who 'informed Ebay'.
Did you open a case - you have to right click on your purchased item, then choose 'return my item' then pick the reason 'faulty'.
Then, the seller provides a label and Ebay send it to you through the case. Have you got an open case? If you have, you can view it here.
Once you've opened a request, the seller should respond to you within 3 business days. You can check on the request at any time to see the seller's replies and to find out what you need to do next.
