Refunding effects

I recently started a small online business on eBay, and I'm operating on a very minimal profit margin—just a few pennies per sale. Yesterday, I received an order from a customer who made several additional requests. He asked me to write a letter, pack the item nicely in a gift box, and send it as a present. I agreed to do so, but I mentioned that I would need to charge an extra £1 to cover the cost of the box and packaging.

However, I didn’t realize at the time that the order he placed was the same one we discussed. He had also used a discount, and after deducting the cost of postage and the product itself, I’m left with only 10 to 15 pence. Now, the customer is threatening to leave a bad review if I don’t fulfill all his extra requests, even though I wasn’t aware this was his order when I initially sent it out.

He has also been very rude and disrespectful in his messages, which has been extremely discouraging for me. I only get a few sales occasionally, and facing such issues over a few pennies is really upsetting.

I just want to cancel this order and issue a full refund to the customer. If there are any charges from eBay’s side, I am happy to pay them myself. I’m honestly very fed up with this situation and just want it resolved.

"write a letter, pack the item nicely in a gift box, and send it as a present"

If the address you are sending it to is not the address eBay gave you its most likely a scam.

"I recently started a small online business on eBay" but you are trading from a private account not a business account.
