Hi, wondering if anyone can help. I have sold around 10 books in eBay over the last few weeks with no issues. The last 3, the customers have paid 87p, yet eBay have deducted far more from my balance to pay for shipping labels, which they haven't done before. I have checked my listings and I only offer the Evri and Royal Mail prepaid labels, so am unsure 1) why the customers can choose to pay a different amount (option isn't on my listings) and 2) what has changed as I haven't had this issue previous to yesterday. Anybody any ideas?

The last book you sold, the Bill Bryson book, was sold with Ebay's Simple Delivery postage.
The buyer pays Ebay directly for the label, then Ebay issue the label for you to print.
They should not deduct an amount from you for postage - for the one I gave as an example, Ebay should have paid you 99p, the nett proceeds of the sale.
I hope you haven't sent any books out with 87p postage on as that is nowhere near enough to cover the cost!
87p is the cost of a second class stamp for an item under 100g in weight and up to 0.5cm thick. So, if Ebay has been charging you £2.70 for a second class large letter, that will generally cover the cost unless the book is more than 2.5cm thick, including any packaging. (Most books would need to go as a small parcel.)

Hi and thanks for your quick reply. I managed to finally get an answer from Ebay support this morning. Apparently I had set custom postage options up for the sales where I had been deducted postage, not entirely I fully understand how, but I have checked all my active listings and they are all set up with simple postage at the correct rates and have buyer pays postage set up correctly.
I will keep an eye on this for sure! Thanks again for your help
Cheers 🙂
