Payment on hold

If you don't want to proceed you can issue a cancellation and the refund will be issued in the process.  Click on the dropdown menu arrow for the item on your orders page and select Cancel order.

Just be aware that you will have to use the out of stock option to cancel which will give you a defect.

Ebay expects you to post when they tell you the buyer has paid, it's what you agreed to, payment hold or not.

Also, empty box claims and others, still happen after payment has been passed to sellers.  They still have to refund.

You are an infrequent seller and there has been hardly any activity on your account for months so when you sold a fairly expensive item, a payment hold was always likely.

You can cancel and lose the sale - your choice.  Or you can post the item, use a secure tracked service with sufficient cover if the item gets lost (RM First Class is only £20 and Tracked 48 is £150) and wait for your payment.

If you had the money in your bank, and you had sold to a bad buyer, you would still have to pay out if they claimed they received an empty box.  A payment hold does not affect a buyer's ability to make a claim.
