You need to contact the buyer and see what they want to do.
They may say what I am thinking, which is, 'How come you can drop it off but can't get to the Post Office?'

You can but you won't have proof of delivery. If it's more than a few £s it would be safer to cancel the transaction (with buyer's agreement) via the dropdown menu arrow alongside the item on your orders page and select Cancel order > Buyer asked to cancel. Refund will be issued in the process.
Then relist as collection only for the buyer to buy and pay again. They will receive a collection confirmation code in an email to give to you. See "Proof of collection" on here:

Thank you I'm new to selling. I didn't know about the drop-down menu I've asked for pick up or personal delivery as they aren't too far away . and they probably would like it before Christmas. thanks again

because i work and we live close by ....not everyone is a liar
