Givng out private information

A prospective buyer wants to view the item I'm selling to see if it's the right one for them. Is it normal to give out my address so they can view or can we exchange phone numbers and go from there?

Ebay don't allow you to exchange contact details until the seller has agreed to buy and has paid for the item.

Then you can arrange a viewing.

If they decide it's not for them, they can then have a refund.
