Obviously aware that I cant be too specific as this is an ongoing request ....
A buyer would like a refund as they claim that an item he received "smelt funny" and has been scratched .
His photos are no different to mine , he says I listed is as brand new when I actually listed it as near new or nearly new .
I think the buyer has swapped discs and is trying to get a refund .
What are the chances that I can appeal this and win ?
Any and all advice appreciated .

Bottom line if someone opens a case for item not as described, then you will have to accept, within 3 days, pay for the tracked return postage to get your item back, and only refund when its back with you, you have 48 hours to do so.
Cases are all automated no human contact so no point challenging it at that point.
Stick within those timelines and your seller performance is not affected.
You can then appeal the decision for the refund, link below explains how.
Be aware, eBay do not see the item, obviously cannot check if it ' smells ' or not, and they do tend to believe a buyer in most cases. Your buyer may have history of doing this? What is their feedback left for others look like ?
