Customs Charge Sellers Mistake

I purchased some farthing coins and agreed a price of approx £4, the price then added tax as the items were coming from Jersey to the UK. So I paid £6.09 for the coins and £8 for tracked48. The seller sent them untracked. I then got a customs charge of £24. When they eventually got delivered I noticed that the seller had marked the coins at a value of £80, hence the customs charge. I have messaged the seller asking for a refund of £24, but have had no reply.

You may be able to get a refund of the tax if HMRC accept the lower value on eBay.  Or you could return them to the seller and get a refund that way.
